Try this. Here's how to find business market prospects practically anywhere you care to look. You can feed these names into your direct mail system, or contact the businessowner directly.
- Read local newspapers and magazines every day. Make a note of new businesses and professional practices, as well as companies who are doing a lot of hiring and promoting.
- Check for companies who are doing the most TV, radio and print advertisement, or take large ads in the Yellow Pages. This usually is a sign of a healthy company with good cash flow.
- Drive different routes to the office or scheduled meetings every day. Use a mini-tape recorder to make note of prosperous-looking businesses or new office buildings going up. Then, make time to stop and introduce yourself.
- When you're attending civic meetings or are out socially, try to identify the businessowners and professionals in the crowd. See if you're right by asking what line of work they're in. Regardless of the answer, you might generate interest in who you are and what you do.
