Here's a checklist of suggestions for submitting winning disability income applications:
- Ask every question.
Fill in all the blanks. Underwriters will assume that any unanswered question is important and pursue it.
- Be sure to get especially complete, accurate information
about the applicant's occupation, duties, earned income, financial situation, medical history, and existing disability benefits.
Note: Claims have been filed on the insured's inability to perform duties that were never listed on the application. Be sure to ask for a description of all of the applicant's duties.
- Take a non-medical application,
even if a paramedic or medical exam is required. Prepare your client for additional tests or studies, as appropriate.
- Contact your General Agent / Trainer or DI Specialist
if you have questions about a case. If you need additional help, contact the Underwriting Department.
