Some plan participants may find the process of allocating their own assets (described above) overwhelming. For those looking for an easy way to diversify, plan participants may also select LIVESTRONG™ Portfolios*, which is a series of target-date portfolios that invest in a combination of American Century® mutual funds.
Plan participants following this route to asset allocation simply select the LIVESTRONG™ Portfolio that corresponds to the year closest to their expected retirement date. Assets are allocated among various underlying fund selections in a predetermined manner for each portfolio. For a breakdown of asset classes within each LIVESTRONG™ Portfolio, refer to Ohio National's flyer, LIVESTRONG™ Portfolios (Form 3199).
Even plan participants who choose the LIVESTRONG™ Portfolios approach may want to consider their risk tolerance when selecting their portfolio. Longer-dated portfolios are allocated to assume more risk while shorter-dated portfolios are allocated to assume less risk. Plan participants may want to compare the model portfolio against their personal risk profile.
* LIVESTRONG™ Portfolio is not available in Retirement Advantage contracts.
