Market Planning Idea

Strategic Reviews Are
Time Well-Spent

Planning goals and strategies can be a chore. But its crucial not only to have a formal action plan documenting your strategies and goals, but also to review and revise it periodically.

Producers need to take stock of what they're doing, looking at cash flow, taking an inward look at their operation, and fine tuning it.

Reviewing your business model and market planning forces you to look at everything you're doing and ask yourself if you're focussed in the right direction. To be successful, plan revisions must be based on reality, and can take anywhere from several hours to several months. You must research to determine the probability new goals and strategies will work.

Review your plan at least once a year; but if you're in changing markets you may have to look at it more often. Keep your business and marketing plans close. Write down ideas by topics that will trigger your memory or prompt you to do certain things.

Look at what happened versus what your plan was. Then try to see why things happened the way they did – what you did right and what you need to do to make it better.
