SECTION IV: INVESTMENTS
Investment Benefits

Although growth of principal is important for customers to understand, it's equally important for them to understand that investments have other benefits as well. Different types of investments produce different types of economic benefits including income, growth and tax benefits. For example, some blue chip common stocks pay dividends and offer appreciation potential, while fixed annuities pay a fixed period interest rate that is tax-deferred and guarantee the principal value of the investment (based on claims-paying ability of insurer) less any withdrawals or applicable surrender charges. In addition, money market accounts pay a variable interest rate and offer immediate liquidity.
