For non-cancelable guaranteed renewable; available as a rider. Classes 4A & 3A, no total disability qualification period required. Class 2A requires a 30-day qualification period.
Pays a percentage of the total disability benefit if, as a result of injury or sickness, the insured suffers a loss of time or a loss of duties, and income loss of at least 20 percent. Physician care is required. For classes 4A & 3A, after the waiting period, a loss of time or duties is not required. Also, income loss is not required during the waiting period and the first six months of benefits, if you have a loss of time or duties of at least 20 percent. The minimum benefit payable in the first six months is 50 percent, and a 75 percent or greater income loss is deemed a 100 percent loss. There is a 12-month transition benefit payable following full recovery if there is still a 20 percent or greater loss of income. At the end of each year of disability, pre-disability earnings will be increased by an amount equal to any increase in the CPI-U to help avoid erosion of residual disability benefits during benefit computations.
For guaranteed renewable, included as part of the basic policy coverage; pays a benefit for up to two years. May be extended to the full policy benefit period by rider. No qualification period.

Waiver of Elimination Period Rider
(All Classes)
If the insured is hospitalized during the waiting period, this rider waives or eliminates the waiting period and provides for immediate benefits while hospitalized. Should the insured recover before the waiting period has elapsed, the balance of the remaining days must be satisfied before basic policy benefits again become payable.
